Our dinner selections feature carefully sourced ingredients, bold flavors, clean presentations and creative yet simple preparations that lend themselves to the season.

Our brunch menu features local, fresh eggs, buckwheat pancakes, house made bacon, as well as freshly prepared soups, heart healthy salads, sandwiches, and pizzas.
Reservations are available online through Yelp up to 60 days in advance. Please email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if your desired time is not available. We can accommodate parties up to 12 people during service. Additionally, we offer reserved seating at the counter adjacent to the open kitchen by phone.
We request credit card numbers to hold reservations for our weekend dinner services for parties of seven or more. During brunch we request credit card holds for parties of ten or more. Any cancellations must be made 8 hours before the reservation time to avoid a $20 charge per guest. If you are running late, please call us, we will make our best efforts to adjust things for you, but we do have to be mindful of our other guests and their reservation times. We will hold your table 15 minutes after its reserved time. If we have not heard from you, we have the right to cancel your reservation.
We do our best to accommodate as many guests as possible in proper James on Main style. We reserve the right to limit your time at the table to 2 hours (timed from the scheduled reservation; not time seated, served, etc.). If you do not believe this allows enough time to visit, consider a reservation later in the evening since there will be no following reservations.
James on Main is another step in the ambitious culinary journey of chef Bill Van Pelt. Chef Bill has spent more than twenty years in professional kitchens honing his craft. Chef has garnered local and national awards, in addition to studying abroad in Vienna and the Austrian Alps. During engagements in restaurants, hotels, country clubs, and NJ's elite catering companies, chef Bill has worked with some of New Jersey's finest chefs and for some of the tristate area's leading personalities and business moguls.
As a Hackettstown resident, husband and father of three, chef Bill decided to bring his culinary talents to historic Main Street. James on Main, by design is a place for people to gather and enjoy freshly prepared foods, sourced locally and seasonally when possible, in a warm and welcoming environment.
It is the mission of James on Main to become woven into the fabric of this classic downtown and diverse community, providing a place for families, friends and coworkers alike to find a delicious, health-inspired meal prepared especially for them.
